Keep the details you need without a connection
An offline travel note should contain the details you can act on when a live map or booking app is unavailable.
An offline travel note should contain the details you can act on when a live map or booking app is unavailable. A folder full of screenshots is only useful if you can find the right one.
Keep the accommodation address, confirmed access instructions, booking references and relevant operator contact details together. Download maps through the provider's official function where available and check what works without a connection. A saved map may not include live service changes, opening hours or the ability to calculate a new route.
Test the note before leaving
Open the files while disconnected and zoom in far enough to read them. Give each item a descriptive filename rather than relying on the order in a camera roll. For an important transfer, save the departure point, destination and the direction of travel in words.
Protect the device with suitable security and avoid placing passwords or full payment details in an ordinary travel note. Share only what companions need. Printed information can provide a useful fallback, but keep personal details out of public view.
Add the date on which you checked the information. When a booking changes, replace the old version or mark it clearly superseded. The aim is a small, dependable set of instructions. Keeping every message can make yesterday's plan look just as authoritative as the current one.
